Two adventure-seekers fall in love
On a mid-September weekend in Washington, I drove up to Port Townsend to celebrate Aubrey and Andrew’s intimate wedding day filled with love, beautiful views of the Puget Sound, and a surprise pirate ship!
Aubrey and Drew met during their residency for medical school in Portland, Oregon. Now, they both love climbing, surfing, hiking, and all sorts of other adventurous activities. However, when they first started dating there were some doubts that it would work out. Aubrey preferred the ocean while Drew preferred the mountains. But they worked it out and taught each other the ropes of surfing and rock climbing. Their mutual appreciation for adventure, spontaneity, and outdoor activities were just a few of the reasons they got along so well, and their connection only continued to deepen and strengthen with time.
After growing more comfortable and falling deeper and deeper in love with each other over a two year span, it was clear that these two were destined to climb all of their mountains together. Drew proposed to Aubrey after they summited First Kiss at Smith Rock, and that was just the beginning of their next adventure.
unique wedding details
They had their wedding at the Northwest Maritime Center in Port Townsend, Washington, which offered a unique setting for an intimate, down-to-earth wedding. The ceremony was held on the dock outside, where a pirate ship had randomly appeared the morning of the wedding. Nobody minded though! We even took some newlywed photos with the ship afterwards.
The details at the wedding were so gorgeous and just different! The flowers in the arrangements were actually picked by Aubrey, Andrew, and some of their friends and family the day before; which I personally think is the coolest thing ever! The flowers were done by Laurie Mckenzie, and the planning and styling was provided by Bethany at Snowberry Event + Design. I especially enjoyed the driftwood aesthetic and their table names as different mountains around the PNW.
charcuterie boards | beer | popcorn
After the ceremony, it was time for social hour! Starting with a table-wide charcuterie board and drinks from Port Townsend Brewing Co. Family and friends enjoyed their appetizers and beverages on the terrace that wraps around the building while mingling and taking in the incredible views. Then, during dinner, some family members gave speeches and toasted to the newlyweds. Wrapping up with lots of cheers, it was time for dancing, dessert, and popcorn!
happily ever after
Aubrey and Drew are two of the most adventurous, humble, and hardworking people I know, and I am so honored to have captured their wedding day. This is just the beginning, and I am so excited to see what they continue to accomplish in life.
